Miss Philippines 'Jeslyn Santos' wins Miss United Continents 2016.
Missosology - She competed alongside Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (now Miss Universe 2015) in Bb Pilipinas two years ago. Now, Jeslyn Santos became the first Asian (and non-Latina) winner of Miss United Continents pageant.
Santos, wearing a bright blue dress, was emotional as she received the crown from outgoing queen Nathalia Lago at the Palaxio de Cristal de Guayaquil on Saturday, September 24.
The 23-year-old brodcast communication graduate and volleyball player from Hagonoy, Bulacan wowed the crowd when she answered the final question in Spanish.
Asked how to unite the continents, Santos said: “Somos uno si actuamos y pensamos como uno -continuó-. No debemos tratarnos mutuamente como extraños y competidores, sino como hermanos. Aunque grandes océanos y tierras nos separen, el amor siempre nos unirá” (We are one if we act and think as one. We should not treat each other as strangers and competitors but as brothers and sisters. Although great oceans and land divide us, love always unites us).
First runner-up was Miss Denmark Mette Riis; Miss India Lopamudra Raut was second runner-up; and Miss Brazil Taynara Gargantini was third runner-up. Mexico’s Cynthia Duque and Panama’s Rita Silvestre were fourth and fifth runners-up, respectively.
