Filipino-American Model Tommy Esguerra Denies 'It's Showtime' Segment is Scripted.
Filipino-American model Tommy Esguerra, who was among the housemates in the 10th anniversary edition of “Pinoy Big Brother,” is happy that the new “It’s Showtime” segment featuring him and Miho Nishida is well-received by Kapamilya viewers.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ Jeff Fernando, Esguerra expressed how grateful he is for all the opportunities coming his way after his stint in the ABS-CBN reality show.
“I’m happy. Siyempre masaya ako because people are supporting us. I just hope the best for me and Miho. I want to make it big and if this is one of the ways to do it, I’ll do it,” he said.
He also denied that their segment is scripted, as what some netizens claim.
“It’s not scripted at all. They throw us out on stage, and we are like, ‘What are we supposed to do? What are we doing?’ They just surprise us. I wish it was scripted kasi I’m not ready for some of the stuff they do. I’m very nervous because I don’t know what’s going on. It’s impromptu every time,” he said.
Asked about the magic of his onscreen chemistry with Nishida, Esguerra said: “I love her. That’s it. I’m very open. I don’t hide it. If I like you, then I’m going to say I like you.”
Meanwhile, Esguerra shared some of the things that have changed in his life since “PBB” concluded.
However, he said he is not having a hard time adjusting to all the attention he’s getting now.
Esguerra said he is willing to learn the ropes in showbiz, adding that he would love to learn first-hand from Filipino actors with foreign blood who also grew up from other countries.
“Maybe James Reid. I want to see how they act in person. I want to learn from them. They are the same as me. Hindi sila masyado nagsasalita ng Tagalog, they come from a foreign country, but they make it big here. They came from 'PBB,'” he said.
Esguerra was born and raised in California.
