ABS-CBN Drama Shows Continue to Make Waves Internationally.

ABS-CBN’s drama series continue to make waves internationally according to a report by Ginger Conejero on TV Patrol last Thursday night, November 19.

As such, dubbed in international languages, Forevermore that gave birth to LizQuen love team, one of the hottest today, earned a fan base in Kazakhstan while Bridges of Love starring Maja Salvador, Jericho Rosales and Paulo Avelino became a hit in Spain.

Likewise, defunct daytime TV program Be Careful with My Heart was shown in Vietnam and the 2002 classic Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay starring Lorna Tolentino, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo was translated in French.


Meanwhile, the original version of Pangako Sa ‘Yo which aired in 2001 starring Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa became a big hit in Malaysia where it had 4 re-runs.

ABS-CBN Acquisitions Head Leng Raymundo explained why the international audience seems to like Pinoy original soaps. “Nagugustuhan nila ‘yung optimism ng Pilipino. Nagugustuhan nila ‘yung positive values. The way we mount our love stories, lalong lalo na ngayon di ba, yung kilig hindi nawawala.”

ABS-CBN stars are also recognized internationally like actress Angel Locsin, who was nominated years ago at the International Emmy Awards for her performance in the fantasy drama series, Lobo.

This year, ABS-CBN’s CEO and CCO Charo Santos-Concio will chair the prestigious I-Emmys and will give a speech during its opening gala night, which will be held in New York City on November 23. Likewise, Kapamilya actor Piolo Pascual will be one of the presenters for the night.
