Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub Admits She is a ‘Kapamilya’

Maine Mendoza a.k.a Yaya Dub of Eat Bulaga’s popular kalyeserye has admitted that she watches shows in the rival network, ABS-CBN.

In an article published by Trending News Portal, Mendoza had a Twitter post way back April 17, 2010 which reads:“Nakakatawa yung Showtime kanina..Hahahaha! Panuorin nyo sa Youtube. Hahaha!” (Showtime was hilarious…Watch it on Youtube.)

The tweet, apparently, is just one of the indicators that she is an avid fan of the Kapamilya network.

The tweets of Mendoza about ABS-CBN’s noontime show way back 2010 and 2012 were also published on Manila Feed. Long before her stint as Yaya Dub in Eat Bulaga, one of her tweets mentioned about Showtime’s host Anne Curtis’ skydiving video, a subtle sign that she used to follow the rival noontime show.

She was, as well, open to express her opinion on one of ABS-CBN’s show, Your Face Sounds Familiar in a post on Twitter dated June 7, 2015 where she wrote: “Should’ve been Jay R or Nyoy #YFSFGrandWinner.”

In Mendoza’s ask.fm account, one follower asked why she chose to work in GMA instead of working in ABS-CBN knowing that she is an avid fan of the latter.

Mendoza replied with: “Being part of the longest running noon time show is a very great opportunity. I am a Kapamilya, all of us (in the family) are. But real talk, at noon time, nasa channel 7 na yung TV [Eat Bulaga]. I am not a certified Kapuso anyway, ‘Dabarkads’ lang naman ako.”

Mendoza was first known through her Dubsmash videos. She was called up by one of the staff of the long time running noon time show for an interview and became part of the ‘Juan For All, All for Juan’ segment.

An ‘accidental’ love team was created when she was paired with Alden Richards which received positive response from the viewers. AlDub is currently one of the hottest love teams in the country today.
