Gossip Blogger "Michael Sy Lim" nabbed over Libel Suit filed by Deniece Cornejo.
Popular gossip blogger Michael Sy Lim was arrested Tuesday morning over a libel suit filed by controversial personality Deniece Cornejo.
Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Chief Director Benjamin Magalong said Lim, the flamboyant author of the entertainment news blog Fashion Pulis, was arrested in a subdivision in Makati by CIDG operatives and brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory in Camp Crame.
Lim was arrested by virtue of a warrant arrest for libel issued by Antipolo City Regional Trial Court Judge Marie Claire Victoria Mabutas-Sordan, who recommended a bail of P16,000 for Lim’s temporary liberty.
Magalong said the arrest was conducted in response to the request of Cornejo and her lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio, as part of the CIDG Quality Assurance Support to Victims program.
The lawsuit stemmed from Lim’s publication in his blog of Cornejo’s medical report allegedly leaked by outpatient clinic network Healthway.
The medical report was taken after Cornejo accused comedian Vhong Navarro of rape in January 2014. In the report, Healthway concluded that Cornejo may have a sexually transmitted disease. Topacio said his client Cornejo is also planning to sue Healthway.
Cornejo herself has been out on bail since September after she was jailed for months over charges of illegal detention and grave coercion filed last year by Navarro against her, businessman Cedric Lee, and several others.
