The Voice Kids Philippines 2016 Blind Auditions: "Defying Gravity" by Natalie
Cabanatuan native Natalie Zarena Martinez may have missed a few notes during her performance for the blind auditions of "The Voice Kids," but she still managed to impress both Broadway star Lea Salonga and screen veteran Sharon Cuneta.
The 11-year-old Martinez performed the soaring favorite "Defying Gravity" from the classic musical "Wicked."
"Sabi ni coach Bamboo, he felt that it was all over the place. Sa akin, hindi malaking problema iyon kasi you have the right tools. All we have to do is put things in the right place," Cuneta told Martinez.
"I will be very honest and I think you can handle it, Bamboo was right. Parang medyo kalat pero you hit that note and I said to myself, 'Yes, I can work with this young woman," added Salonga.
"And what I can offer you, hindi kita bobolahin, you will get my honesty but you will get my heart as well. I can do a lot with you."
Martinez picked Salonga, becoming the the sixth member of Team Lea. She joined seven-year-old Matthew Joshua Esconde.
Meanwhile, Mañalac and Cuneta got one recruit each by the end of the episode. Ten-year-old Yohance Buie picked Mañalac, while Justin John Alva of Lucena City joined Cuneta's team.
