HAIL TO THE QUEEN

She graced the covers of the glossiest of magazines, walked in the most coveted catwalks, starred in highly-rated programs. "Queen," "Superstar," "Diva," these words aptly describe showbiz darling Marian Rivera.

As our one and only primetime queen celebrates her 30th birthday today, we rounded up a list of trivia so you can get to know her more!

A – AMAYA
GMA’s first-ever epic serye wherein Marian played the title role Amaya. Set in 1600’s, the show depicted the life of Filipinos during that era. The role required Marian to hold a real live snake and to do some scenes topless (with her long hair covering her chest); she did both commendably.

B – BUTTERFLY DOME
Marian loves butterflies, in fact, she has a small butterfly tattoo on her back. It is just right that her beau Dingdong Dantes first proposed to her in a butterfly dome in Macau last 2012.

C – COMMERCIAL MODEL
TAPE Inc.’s big boss Tony Tuviera discovered Marian Rivera who was then modeling for commercials. Mr. Tuviera gave Marian her first break as an actress via a TAPE-produced teleserye.

D – DINGDONG DANTES
Marian’s beau of five years, and now fiance, Dingdong Dantes. Marian and Dingdong first worked together in Marimar but were both committed to other parties then. Their romance sealed when they worked together again in the teleserye Endless Love. Last August 9, Dingdong asked for Marian's hand in marriage for the second time and on national TV.

E – EXTRA CHALLENGE
Marian hosted the return of Philippine TV’s original reality show, Extra Challenge. She became good friends with co-host Boobay during the run of the show. In the said program, Marian showed her light and funny side, which was seldom seen because of the heavy acting asked of her in teleseryes.
F – FRANCISCO
Marian’s Dad, Francisco Javier Alonzo Gracia. He is a restaurateur in his homeland Spain. Marian’s Instagram can sometimes be seen with a photo of his Dad “plugging” her shows in his country. Cute!

G – GRACIA
Marian’s Father’s family name. By Spanish tradition, the paternal family name succeeds the given name. This resulted to "Marian Gracia Rivera," which is opposite of what we are accustomed to here in the Philippines.
H – HOT
While this needs no explanation, we’ll mention the proof anyway. Marian is FHM’s only three-time Sexiest Woman title-holder. First was in 2008, when she bested Hollywood actress Megan Fox for the top spot. She regained her throne last 2013 and her FHM catwalk can be remembered through the golden ensemble that dropped everyone’s jaws. This 2014, Marian became the first-ever three-time winner of FHM's sexiest list.
I – INDONESIA
Dingdong’s surprise destination for Marian’s birthday last August 12. According to Marian, Dingdong withheld information about their secret trip up to the last minute. The sweet couple spent a weekend in Bali, Indonesia, where the picturesque background and their happy smiles fit together so perfectly.

J – JOY
Marian played the role of “Joy” in one of his movies with Dingdong. In One True Love, Joy’s husband Migs (Dingdong) met an accident and had an amnesia. Migs forgot all about his marriage to Joy and just remembered about loving his first girlfriend, Bela (Iza Calzado).

K – KUNG MAMAHALIN MO LANG AKO
Marian’s first ever appearance on TV as an actress was via Kung Mamahalin Mo Lang Ako. The afternoon serye was produced by TAPE Inc., aired over GMA and also starred Oyo Boy Sotto, Camille Pratts, and Ehra Madrigal.

L – LA SALLITE
Marian graduated from De La Salle University Dasmarinas Cavite with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
M – MARIMAR
Perhaps Marian’s most celebrated role to date. A re-make of Mexican drama with the same title, this was also the telenovela responsible for Thalia’s fame. Marian did not disappoint in the said role and her acting can be compared, if not at par, with Thalia’s performance. Another trivia: Kapuso artists Nadine Samonte, Katrina Halili, Bianca King, and Jennylyn Mercado likewise auditioned for the Marimar role.
N – NARDA
Darna might as well be a legend in the Philippine entertainment industry. Created by Mars Ravelo, the “super heroine” had an ordinary townsfolk alter ego, Narda. This much coveted role has been played by Vilma Santos, Rio Locsin, Nanette Medved, Angel Locsin, and most recently, Marian Rivera.

O – ODESSA FUENTES
One of Marian’s very few antagonist roles. This was for Julian Ward’s Jillian: Namamasko Po!, a special TV series featuring light-hearted Christmas stories. Marian played a woman mean to children.

P – PAMAHIIN
One of the first films Marian starred in. In this suspense thriller, Marian played a superstitious town outcast named Becca. Marian has 15 films in her filmography, the latest addition is Kung Fu Divas.

Q – QUEEN
Since her debut in showbiz way back 2005, Marian has been a true blue Kapuso. She starred in no less than 9 soaps produced by her mother network, gaining her the much deserved title “Kapuso Primetime Queen.”

R – RETRO CRAZY
Remember Marian’s anatomy-defying dance moves in Marimar? She is one hell of a dancer and released a dance album entitled Retro Crazy, containing the LSS-worthy song Sabay-sabay Tayo back in 2009.

S – SPAIN
Marian was born in Madrid, Spain on August 12, 1984. She was brought by her mom to the Philippines when she was two years old. She has then visited Spain numerous times to see her Dad, Francisco.

T – TEMPTATION OF WIFE
One of Marian’s most recent soap opera where she played Angeline/Chantal, a martyr wife who was thought to be dead but survived an accident and re-invented herself to seek revenge against her estranged husband and his lover.
V – VOGUE
Marian’s Instagram feed looks like a fashion magazine thanks to her fashion forward ensemble. A self-confessed shopaholic, Marian stays in vogue through her favourite couturiers like Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino and Rajo Laurel. She is wearing the latter in this photo.

W – WINSTON
The diamond ring that now adorns the newly-engaged lady's hand was from the world-renowned jeweler, Harry Winston.

Y – YANYAN
At 30, Marian remains young at heart. She prefers to be called by her childhood nickname, Yanyan, by her family, friends, and fans.

Z - ZION
The name of Marian's cutest inaanak with Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati. During Sarah's guesting on Marian's dance show Marianthe Queen quipped that she wanted to have a baby of her own after seeing Zion! Could that be this year? We're excited!

Marian's 30th year is going to be filled with new surprises as she starts a new phase of her life with fiance Dingdong Dantes. We wish Marian the happiest birthday!
